Affiliate Marketing Made Simple – Must Read for Every Newbie Marketer!

So, guys!

I am back again. Exams ended, back to work again with a lot of creative ideas 🙂
Today, I will be sharing something about Affiliate Marketing. Recently, I affiliated with Udemy and earned 27$ and that was my first ever affiliate income. Affiliate Marketing has been a great field of interest for every blogger and webmaster that love to work online!
For me, and for many others, Affiliate Marketing is just a passive source of income. You’ll find several marketers sharing their affiliate earning proofs (snapshots, videos, etc) and this will insist you to think, what the heck “Affiliate Marketing” is and how to get started?
And these two queries are going to be solved today! I will be discussing in-short;
Let’s start.

What is Affiliate Marketing?

The best definition of affiliate marketing can be found on Pat Flynn’s Smart Passive Income:

Affiliate marketing is the process of earning a commission by promoting other people’s (or company’s) products. You find a product you like, promote it to others, and earn a piece of the profit for each sale that you make.

Affiliate Marketing involves three parties and I’ll discuss each of them later. Look at the snap from CJ (Commission Junction):
From the snap, you can exclude:
“The correct relationship between advertiser, Publisher and customer lead to a successful Marketing plan. Once everything is alright, everybody will be happy!”
That’s simple! Let’s learn all these parties one-by-one

1. Advertiser

An advertiser is the one that takes products from merchants and put them online. Advertiser just makes merchant’s products online, and here its duty ends. An advertiser may be an Affiliate Network that allows webmasters to promote the products they have.

2. Publisher

Publisher, sometimes, called Affiliate. So, Publisher takes the products from advertisers and start promoting them with the specific URLs (that track the number of sales, visits, etc.)

This is what we’re going to be. We’ll act as a publisher (Affiliate Marketer) and promote the products by different ways that we are going to discuss in next posts. The third party comes out to be:

3. Customer

A Customer is what that purchases the products once we (publishers) make them purchase it. We promote the products, get customers, make merchant and advertisers happy and in turn, we get a commission (percentage based).
That’s all.
After all these explanations, I am sure you’re clear to the term “Affiliate Marketing”.

Start Affiliate Marketing

Now, we’re going to learn how to start affiliate marketing. The first step that comes out to be is to choose the ‘product’. Let’s discuss that step first! 🙂

Step 1. Choosing a suitable product

Finding a product that matches your audience is what you call “suitable product.” Lets go deep:
Suppose, you have a blog related to football, and you have a readership that like football products. So, you can choose suitable products considering your niche (football). You can make a contact with a company that sells football stuff; affiliate networks can help you. Some of the top affiliate networks are here:

These networks can help you find products. These networks help you make a connection with the product owner. Move to step-2:

Step-2: Promoting the Product

So, after you selected a suitable product, its time to promote it! When it comes to promotion, you have to be over creative.
What I do is, I take a notepad and start writing the ideas that include several ways to promote the product. Then, after taking these ideas, a strategy is produced. When you work on the strategy, you’ll start getting results 😉
Actually, there are several ways to promote a product. Like, you can promote products via your blog or via social media. In the next posts, I’ll be sharing some tips on how to promote the affiliated products.

Step 3. Watch results

Once you selected a product and promoted it with your specific tracking (affiliate) URLs, you have to wait for the results. If you get sales, you can see commission reports in your affiliate network. Commission is what you’ve earned.
Now, subtract the money you spent in promotion from your affiliate earnings. The amount left is the pure earnings, you made! 🙂
According to Hassaan Khan, a Pro-Blogger from Pakistan:

Affiliate Marketing is like a chemical formula, you need to put the right

things and keep testing it until the reaction happens.
